Water, parabolic mirror, inducers, metal, rubber, video projection mapping, lasers.
At once an instrument and an invitation, The Frequency of Water is a sculptural work that serves as both performance and process. Conceived to integrate Liguori’s darkroom practice with live collaboration, the piece transforms sound into visible movement, translating ephemeral frequencies into material form.
At its core, a parabolic mirror fitted with inducers cradles a shallow pool of water. Live audio input activates the inducers, setting the liquid into motion—its rippling surface is a direct visualization of the unseen resonance of sound. These shifting patterns become the foundation for Liguori’s emgrams, cameraless light paintings that capture the essence of vibration in physical form.
Blurring the boundaries between photography, sculpture, and performance, The Frequency of Water invites musicians, artists, and viewers into a shared act of creation. The resulting light paintings stand as luminous records of collaboration—momentary harmonies preserved in silver.
